→ The Noise of Art - Into Trouble With The Noise Of Art (Album)
Interestingly, I found out abt this album through a YTPMV, which was titled "Noise : Of : Art". The title made it seem like it was a reference to one of my favourite music artists Art of Noise, which it is!
If what I read is correct, this Album came free when you purchased a Greengate DS3 Sampler. The intent of the album is to show its ability to make music on the same quality as the much more expensive Fairlight CMI, which a lot of music producers used (such as Michael Jackson, and Art of Noise).
There's a lot more to it on the technical side though, and more can be read abt it on Mainframe's Website.
→ Doctor Hauzer (3DO)
gif by stranno on neogaf forums
Prior to the release of Survival Horror Games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, there was Doctor Hauzer on the Panasonic 3DO. Released April 29, 1994 by Riverhillsoft, it's actually really cool to see 3DO content from Japan, there was an entire magazine dedicated to the 3DO! Which you can view the covers here, look at the bird mascot!
I love how expressive the characters are in this game thanks to the polygonal models. The only other game I can think of with expressions being done like this rather than with textures is Crash Bandicoot (PSX). The game is also fully 3D with no prerendered backgrounds like Resident Evil and Silent Hill would do later on, unfortunately because of this Doctor Hauzer doesn't run very smoothly on the 3DO, and even worse when put into top view mode (which can be shown off in this speedrun done by PeteDorr at AGDQ timestamp: 2:45).
Also, consider listening to the Settings Menu music, it's really good!
→ Mad Panic Coaster (PSX)
This game is fast-paced and is really fun to show to people, with really unique art and high energy music too! It personally feels like playing Super Monkey Ball while trying to control your cart on the coaster. For later stages it benefits knowing the layouts for better reaction time since there's so much going on, obstacles to dodge, enemies to destroy, and gaps to jump over. For a full playthrough you can watch Joster98's playthrough of Mad Panic Coaster at AGDQ here.
You can also check out Hardcore Gaming 101 for more information about the game and the story!
→ Detective Conan Movie 27: The Million-dollar Pentagram
DCMK (Detective Conan/Magic Kaitou) is an interest from my highschool days, much like Lupin III and Sherlock Hound (there's a pattern here...). This movie was created in commemeration for the 30th anniversary of Detective Conan, and was the highest-grossing Japanese film of 2024. (Information from Detective Conan World)
This movie is absolutely beautiful, I loved the traditional design everywhere both in the intro and the plot. It's difficult to explain but it felt like there had been a "traditional revival" when it comes to Japanese media starting in 2020, Disgaea 7 and Demon Slayer are two examples I immediately think of, there were more but I'm unable at the time but I'm unable to remember them at this moment. (I intend to update this at a later date, Golden Kamui?) Unfortunately I'm not someone who can put their words together very well, other than "samurai swords are cool" but I do recommend it as a watch if anyone is interested! Detective Conan's "base plot" is simple and explained in the intro of the movie, which is always appreciated, and I think the story itself stands great on it's own.
Heiji: To think you'd disguise as Kazuha and try to steal a kiss from me, that's disgusting!
Kaitou: Hey, hey, it's your fault for not seeing through the disguise.
